Garabandal: Awaiting Approval

Some Anti-Garabandal people say this apparition is "not approved", that is NOT true. There has been NO Official ruling for approval or condemnation by the local Bishop AND no official Vatican ruling yet because in 1966 Conchita was summoned by the Vatican and questioned by Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani and his staff (which included the Pope's Personal Secretary) for over 2 hours, convinced on her story, they requested a meeting with Pope Paul VI. Conchita and her Mother, and Dr. Medi met the Pope in a private meeting the next day. At the end of that meeting, the Holy Father came to her and announced joyfully in a clear voice, "Conchita, I, the Pope, bless you and with me the whole Church blesses you."

Another quote from Pope Paul VI from another conversation: "It doesn't matter; tell these gentlemen that it is the Pope who has said that it is most important and most urgent to make these messages known to the world."

Jose Luis Saavedra, p. 252-254 Tells the story of that Conchita gave the Pope's Personal Secretary and Cardinal Ottaviani the date of the "Miracle", intended for the Pope decided that the Church would be prudent and wait until that date of the Miracle, before announcing its final decision.

Garabandal's predicted Miracle has not happened yet, so remember that Fatima was not approved until 13 years after the Miracle of the Sun !

Pope Paul VI was given the exact date of the future Miracle, and decided the Church should wait until that date, before approving it.

On May 6, 2012, Bishop of Santander, Vecente Jimenez Zamora (installed in 2007) celebrated a Mass in Garabandal in commemoration of the completion of a restoration project of the village church. In a refreshments period after Mass, he was open and most cordial with all the villagers and visitors. On May 1, 2013, the Bishop again celebrated Mass in the village church of Garabandal and prior to the Mass, kissed a crucifix belonging to villager David Toribio that was kissed by the Blessed Virgin at Garabandal.

Bishop Jimenez's Masses in Garabandal (2012 & 2013) were firsts, since no Bishop of Santander had ever said Mass in the village church from the time the apparitions began in 1961.
